Meet the Expert: Jen Haugen, RDN, LDN
Jen Haugen, RDN, LD, is a food and nutrition expert and kitchen and garden coach. We wanted to get to know Jen a bit better, so we asked her a few questions!
Tell us one interesting fact about yourself.
This year, I’m in the midst of accomplishing a goal I’ve had for a while — becoming a Master Gardener with the University of Minnesota Extension.
What three words or phrases best describe you?
Spiritual, family-oriented, achiever.
What do you like to do in your free time?
It depends on the time of year — but most of all I like to spend time with my husband and kids. We like to do a lot of things outdoors, like camp in the summer and cross-country ski in the winter. Reading is also something I like to do, especially cookbooks and cooking magazines for new inspiration in the kitchen. And I like to garden with my kids to connect the garden with the table.
What’s the last good book you read?
The Kitchen Counter Cooking School by Kathleen Flinn.
What are you currently working on?
I’m working on publishing a book titled “The Mom’s Guide to a Nourishing Garden.” Hoping to release it this spring!
If you could have one superpower what would it be?
My superpower would be the power of being invisible.
What are you most passionate about?
Helping others, especially other moms, live a nourishing life — helping others create nourishing habits, like cooking a healthy meal and eating together as a family, or gardening together as a family. Writing to inspire someone or helping someone personally make a change motivates me to keep on keeping on.
